Selena Gomez has Changed the Life of Puppy in Need

Selena Gomez continues to do her part to help change the lives of animals in need.  While Gomez and also famous boyfriend, Justin Beiber, were on tour last Friday in Canada, she couldn’t help but welcome another animal into her loving arms, rescuing him from Winnipeg, animal rescue D’Arcy’s A.R.C.  This marks the sixth time Gomez has saved the life of a dog in need, this one being a 10 week old Husky mix that she named Baylor, before she even left the shelter.

Gomez and Beiber visited the aminal shelter while on tour because Gomez was missing her other five rescue dogs that are at home.  “They spent a lot of time with the puppies,” the rescue’s chief executive officer, D’Arcy Johnston, told People magazine.  She went on to say that “Baylor probably would have had a bad life or a very short life, but he got rescued and brought to our shelter and is now going to live a very good life.”

Selena Gomez has a history of showing how much dogs in need mean to her, having partnered with Wizards of Waverly Place co-star, Jake T. Austin back in 2009 to spread awareness of the abuse and neglect of dogs in Puerto Rico.  In addition to the “dog”-umentary, Gomez also teamed up with a charity that aims to find new families for homeless dogs in Puerto Rico called Island Dog, Inc.

Gomez had to undergo the same screening process anyone would when adopting a puppy, so she was able to leave the same day with Baylor.  “I wasn’t expecting her to adopt a dog while she was on tour and has a busy schedule,” Johnston said.  It wasn’t long after they left the shelter that Gomez was seen proudly hugging the newest addition to her family, as well as tweeting a picture of herself and Baylor the next day!

It’s a happy day for animal lovers everywhere to know that even a young, busy, famous pop star couple like Selena Gomez and Justin Beiber have the heart to welcome dogs into their lives without the slightest hesitation, rescuing them from what could have otherwise led to the dogs being put down.
