Bethlehem, PA – With Halloween quickly approaching, what better way for dogs to get to join in the fun then with a day dedicated to them, featuring their very own parade! On October 22, 2o11, it will be a Doggie Day in Historic Bethlehem for the fourth year in a row, a Halloween event that is perfect for the entire family. Just the pictures alone that you will get at this event is reason enough to come and join in the fun!
Doggie Day will feature several different events throughout the day on Main Street, starting at 10:30am with the chance to register your dog for the Mutt Strutt Parade. Registration ends at noon, so be sure to get there early to get your dog ready to march and show off his Halloween costume! Other events in addition to the parade that you and the dogs have to look forward to are a “dog friendly” marketplace, contests, raffles, pet photos, and doggie auditions for a part in Annie! The Pennsylvania Youth Theatre will be holding auditions for this premier role in its Christmas musical at 2 p.m. in the Sun Inn Courtyard. Does your dog have what it takes to be Annie’s sidekick, Sandy?
There are five prize categories that the dogs will be judged on and each category has a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award.
- pet-owner look alike
- scariest costume
- most creative
- spirit of Bethlehem
- open/general category
There is a $10 per dog registration fee that also includes a Doggie Day dog handkerchief and one raffle ticket. If you are one of the 75 dog owners to register, you will receive a doggie bag with goodies inside!
All of the proceeds for Doggie Day in Historic Bethlehem will benefit local animal chapters and shelters. The event comes to a close at 3:00pm. This year’s annual event is made possible by Christmas City Veterinary Hospital and they are proud to be able to give the dogs such a fun day to celebrate Halloween!
