Bark’s Best Places to Work presented by Zuke’s Seeks the Most Dog-Friendly Businesses in America

Durango, Colo. – The Bark is asking “if I were a dog—where would I like to work?” The quest continues as Bark’s Best Places to Work presented by Zuke’s kicks off its second annual search for the most dog-friendly workplaces in America. Our search for canine-friendly companies will shine the spotlight on the growing trend of bringing dogs to the job. Three winning companies will be featured in Bark’s Winter 2013 issue and each of their office pups will receive a year’s worth of Zuke’s dog treats!

Research shows that dogs contribute meaningful benefits to the work environment. Studies confirm that dogs reduce anxiety and stress, helping to lower blood pressure and other health risks. Dogs help build office camaraderie, bridge social connections and keep energy levels high. “Dogs are an important part of our lives and we want to promote the unique benefits that they bring to the workplace, “ says Chris Meiering, Director of Marketing at Zuke’s, this year’s presenting sponsor. “We are celebrating companies that understand that there is great benefit to a belly rub or a quick game of fetch between meetings!”

Winners will be chosen by our panel of judges based on the following criteria:

CANINE-FRIENDLY CAMPUS: We’ll be seeking inviting, safe workplaces that pay special attention to the needs and wellbeing of company dogs, offering a dog worker’s paradise.

DOG-DRIVEN WORK POLICIES: We’ll be looking for thoughtful, progressive pet-policies—fair and balanced for both humans and dogs.

DEDICATED TO CANINE CAUSES: We want to know about companies who go above and beyond to help animals in their community.

2012’s inaugural winner was “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” the political comedy sensation that treats their dogs with the same exuberance they show for satire—wholeheartedly. The Bark publisher Cameron Woo points out, “Dogs in the workplace is one of the best perks there is … many people polled choose a dog-friendly company over salary as the key driver in where they prefer to work. We are excited to showcase some cutting edge companies.”

Bark’s Best Places to Work presented by Zuke’s is open to for-profit or non-profit businesses or government entities who reside in the continental United States, or District of Columbia; excluding companies residing in Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories and Puerto Rico. Entries will be accepted online until July 31, 2013 at midnight. Contest details, rules and entry form are available here.
